Important: All of the above data is stored exclusively in your browser's local storage. We do not transmit or store this data on any server.
🤖 AI Service Communication
Koko uses third-party AI services to provide language tutoring, generate quizzes, and translate content. When you interact with the AI tutor:
- Your chat messages are sent to AI service providers to generate responses
- The topic of your current lesson may be included for context
- Your estimated language level may be shared for appropriate difficulty
We use the following AI service providers: Mistral AI, OpenRouter, LongCat, and Groq. Each provider has their own privacy policy governing how they handle data.
We do not send any personally identifiable information (name, email, location) to these services.
💾 Data Storage & Security
Koko is a client-side application. Your learning data is stored entirely in your browser's localStorage:
- We do not operate user accounts or require registration
- We do not collect email addresses, names, or contact information
- We do not use cookies for tracking purposes
- We do not sell, trade, or share your data with third parties
- Clearing your browser data will permanently delete all your progress
🔊 Text-to-Speech
Koko uses your browser's built-in Web Speech API for pronunciation features. Audio is generated locally on your device and is not sent to any external server.
